The proposed peace deal between the United States and Iran is expected to provide Iran with billions of dollars in economic relief. According to various international media outlets, the initial draft of the deal includes proposals to ease some oil sanctions on Iran, grant access to frozen assets, and provide for an investment and reconstruction fund worth about $300 billion. If implemented, the deal would allow Iran to use a large portion of the approximately $24 billion in assets frozen abroad.
It is said that discussions are also underway to provide about $12 billion in the initial phase. Similarly, if sanctions on Iranian oil exports are eased, Tehran will be able to sell oil again easily on the international market. This is expected to significantly improve Iran’s economy. The most talked about issue is the $300 billion reconstruction and development fund.
The money is proposed to be raised from private investors, Gulf countries, and international partners rather than direct US government assistance. The funds are expected to be used to invest in energy, infrastructure, transportation, and industrial development. However, many provisions of the agreement have not yet been finalized. The US side has stated that the economic benefits will only apply after Iran meets certain conditions related to its nuclear program and regional security.
