‘Demand for recount even after losing by 15,000 votes’
Dilip Ghosh said that the leaders who lost by a margin of over 15,000 votes are now demanding a recount and re-election in the court. According to him, this is a sign of refusal to accept the democratic mandate.
The BJP leader said that challenging the results even after the Election Commission process is complete and the results are clear shows political desperation. He alleged that the TMC supremo is unable to digest the defeat.
Shubhendu Adhikari wins by a landslide in Bhawanipur
In the 2026 West Bengal assembly elections, Chief Minister Shubhendu Adhikari contested from both Nandigram and Bhawanipur. The Bhawanipur seat was long considered a political stronghold of Mamata Banerjee, but this time the BJP made a big push there.
According to the election results, Shubhendu Adhikari got 73,917 votes in the Bhawanipur seat while Mamata Banerjee got 58,812 votes. Thus, the BJP leader won by a margin of over 15,000 votes. Later, she decided to retain the Bhawanipur seat instead of Nandigram.
Mamata Banerjee has challenged this election result in the court, seeking a recount and other legal relief.
Growing discontent within the Trinamool Congress
Dilip Ghosh did not limit himself to election controversies. He also mentioned the ongoing differences within the Trinamool Congress and claimed that many party leaders are unhappy with Kalyan Banerjee’s behavior.
He said that his own party’s MLAs and MPs have been continuously complaining against Kalyan Banerjee, but no concrete action has been taken so far. According to him, the time has come to take decisive action on this issue.
Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar writes a letter to the Lok Sabha Speaker
Rebel Trinamool Congress MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar recently wrote a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla demanding action against MP Kalyan Banerjee. She alleged that Kalyan Banerjee had used offensive, derogatory and inappropriate language towards her and other women MPs on several occasions.
In her letter, she said that such behavior was against the dignity of Parliament and the dignity of democratic debate. She requested the Lok Sabha Speaker to investigate the matter and take appropriate action.
Kalyan Banerjee called the allegations a political conspiracy.
On the other hand, Kalyan Banerjee has completely denied all the allegations. He called Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar’s complaint false, baseless and politically motivated. Kalyan Banerjee said that he has been involved in the legal profession and public life for almost 40 years and has never indulged in the conduct alleged. He questioned why the complainant was not providing any concrete examples if he had indeed behaved disrespectfully towards women. He said that the entire matter was a result of personal bias and political differences.
